User can select to enable/disable encryption for items being uploaded to Storage or Shares
Encryption uses two mechanism – Password protection: user provides password(s) and when recipient attempt to access the share item – system checks the password and if it matches then proceeds to decrypt. The second check is Key access: system allows access to such encrypted items (decrypts them) only to specific users – such as its original owner or other users with sufficient permissions (for example sharing recipients)
Encrypted items can be decrypted and viewed only via AXEL UIs or its plugins. In case if file is downloaded directly from IPFS – it is already in encrypted form and so won’t be accessible.
For Cloud Storage (Online Storage) encryption, User can change through Global encryption that is available under Settings
Since user storage may have files saved in both encrypted and not encrypted forms
changing this setting affects only files that are newly added after the change.
Files uploaded to CloudLocker are always encrypted
On Android and iOS AXEL Go app the encryption is available on the next screen after file upload and Global Settings is available under Profile Settings
